Reviews
A philosophical and theosophical exploration of the seventeenth-century case in France of parson Urbain Grandier. The parson was burnt at the stake for consorting with devils to take possession of a convent of nuns. Huxley uses similar devices to those found in Truman Capote's 'In Cold Blood', which Capote described as non-fiction fiction, or faction. The blend of fact and fiction enhances the narrative's emotional impact. An extraordinary book, that is as accessible as it is intellectual.
