Kingston Libraries Staff Review: Marina lives with her timid English mother and three ostentatious elderly Hungarian relatives. Marina decides to go to Combe boarding school, crippled with self-loathing and desperate to fit in. In London, her mother Laura is stifled by her in-laws and, missing her daughter, sinks into a deep depression. However, coming for them both are revelations and even deeper internal struggles, which they need each other’s support to overcome. But can they get through to each other? Well written and lauded novel.
